Gundam Build Fighters has been coming to this point during its entire run. As more of the competitors were eliminated from the general tournament, it was pretty clear that Sei and Reiji would be facing off against their senpai, Yuuki. Their previous battle early on ended with a victory for their older, more experience pilot, but the win wasn’t as decisive as the boys thought. Unfortunately, outside interference may ruin what could’ve been a fair fight Hit the jump…
Annotated Anime: Space Dandy episode 13
We’re halfway through Space Dandy, but now we’ve got to take a break. Lame! At the very least, we’re going out on a bang — a QT-themed bang! Yup, as you may have gathered from the previews last week, this episode is all about QT and his love for coffee. Man, he sure does love coffee. I’m not missing anything here, right? It’s just about coffee? Read more…
EVA Boys Over Friends
“I wonder?…How would I feel?…if you had feelings for me.” The Neon Genesis Evangelion manga adaptation may not be a big source of conversation compared to the anime series and movies, but Yoshiyuki Sadamoto’s interpretation of the story made a beloved character seem more eccentric with regards to loving men. Kaworu Nagisa and Shinji Ikari’s friendship/relationship is arguably the most complex relationship in the whole series. Their interactions highlight how a man can love another man even if he is straight. <!– more –> The manga version of Kaworu …
Autism, Fandom, and the Inner World
This past week, an interesting question was posed to me about the connection between anime fans and autism. Lauren Orsini, the Otaku Journalist, spoke to me about how anime fans with autism tend to enjoy the medium because of its strong visuals. She asked me if there were any studies involving this. Coincidentally, a couple of days later, one great …

Kill la Shock de la Kill
I was planning to write about this series soon, but hey, since it’s become a popular manga, why not now? I’ve been enjoying the craziness that is Kill la Kill and the last few episodes have completely gotten my attention. The main character, Ryuko Matoi, goes through several changes…
Assassination Classroom – A Good Shot Fired at the West?
One of today’s hottest manga titles, Assassination Classroom, became an interesting topic of discussion as it was announced to be released in English. This was a title that could have never come out in North America because of its association with school students being trained killers. So what gives? <!– more –> As many people will tell you, America is a country with a fetish for guns. It seems like shootings happen every day there. There have been notable shootings at U.S. schools throughout the last 10+ years and people have complained about whether we’re really …

My announcement: I’m going on another journey.
Hello, everyone. I said that I would be making a big announcement on twitter a while ago. I was planning on posting, but because of needed preparations that needed to be taken care of, paperwork, and other things, I kind of pushed back the date for the blog post. Anyway, here’s the deal: I’m going to South Korea for six months to work in an elementary …
Teaching in Korea 1: Starting out
Hello, everyone. So I travelled to South Korea not too long ago. I managed to settle in without any jet lag, so I’d like to give you a bit of an update so that you all know what’s going on. Honestly, I thought I took more photos, but it ended up not being a whole lot, somehow. Hm… So I flew Korean Air, and it was probably one of the best experiences I had flying. It was 11 hours, but I’m an indoor hobbies person anyway…
